Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon wants everyone to just relax.
Gordon has proclaimed Monday as Stress Free Day to emphasize the importance of health and wellness in the community.
Gordon signed a proclamation that encourages Phoenix residents to take a minute, hour or even the day to slow down and enjoy the benefits of reducing stress in life.
Michael Minkus, facility director for Just Breathe, a Phoenix Wellness Sanctuary is the behind the Stress Free Day campaign.
Just Breathe offers fitness and wellness programs focusing on healthy lifestyles, mind/body programs, self-awareness and community. In recognition of Stress Free Day, the center is offering free fitness classes starting at noon Monday.
According to a statement issued by Gordon’s office, easy steps to reduce stress include deep breathing, exercise, rest, laughing, re-connecting with nature, stretching, playing with a pet or children, and simply turning off the computer and phone
